Margazhi music festival is not confined to sabhas. Where there is music, there is a sabha.

This is what comes to mind when one hears about the music festival ‘Margazhi Vibes – An Unplugged Devotional Musical Event’ that was got up at Sreeram Flats, 40th Street, Nanganallur.

The event took place Saturday, January 3, 2026, and provided a platform for “emerging singers”.

The chief guests were veena vidwan, Smt. Subsaree, and retired school principal, Dr. (Smt.) Kanakavalli.

The programme, ‘Sreeram Melody’, was organised by Smt. Vijayasri, (sloka and bhajan guru), a resident of Sreeram Flats, and provided a platform for budding singers and senior citizens to render devotional songs from Abhangs to kirtanas. In all, 26 participants gave a remarkable performance.

The chief guests said it was very good exposure for budding singers and an opportunity for seniors to shed their inhibitions and perform.

Volunteers came forward to sponsor gifts for all the kids as a token of appreciation.

Home-made prasadam by the organisers was distributed at the end of the enjoyable evening that was lively, interactive and meaningful.
