Putting women’s health first

| S VENKATESHWARAN |

As part of a joint social service initiative, the Inner Wheel Club of Nanganallur, along with 21 clubs of Inner Wheel District 323, came together to support the health of young women. The clubs jointly organised a free cervical cancer vaccination drive for college girls.

Around 75 girls from Jain College were vaccinated free of cost during this programme. The vaccination normally costs about Rs. 1,000 per person, but all the participating Inner Wheel clubs contributed funds to make the drive possible at no cost to the students.

The project was initiated by Mrs. Nallammai, past district chairman. Club president Mrs. Jyothi Mahipal, district chairman Mrs. Devi Mathimaran, and presidents from various Inner Wheel clubs attended the vaccination drive and encouraged the students.

This meaningful initiative highlighted the commitment of Inner Wheel District 323 towards women’s health and preventive care, said Inner Wheel Club of Nanganallur editor, Mrs. Anandhi Sundararajan.
