On the auspicious occasion of Pongal, the Surendra Nagar Residents Welfare Association (SNRWA) organised a colourful kolam competition on January 16 on 2nd Street, Surendra Nagar, Chennai.
The event began at 3 pm and saw enthusiastic participation from more than 50 residents. Hundreds of visitors gathered to watch, turning the entire street into a beautiful display of traditional kolam designs.
Mrs Poongodi Jagadheeshwaran, ward 163 Councillor, was the special invitee.
The competition was sponsored and presided over by Mrs. Devi Mohan. The best three participants were awarded first, second, and third prizes, while all other participants received consolation prizes as a token of appreciation.
The event was smoothly organised and coordinated by the executive committee members of SNRWA.
The programme was warmly appreciated by the residents and reflected the strong spirit of community bonding. It also highlighted women power, with women taking the lead in participation and organisation, showcasing their creativity, unity and important role in preserving cultural traditions.
