Alandur to get new zonal office building

The bhoomi puja for the new Alandur zonal office was
performed Thursday, January 29, 2026. The ceremony took
place opposite the old Alandur zonal office (old court building)
on Puthu Street, Alandur–16.
Minister for Municipal Administration, Mr. K.N. Nehru, for
MSME Minister, Mr. T.M. Anbarasan, Chennai Mayor, Mrs.
Priya, and the Commissioner participated in the event.
The programme was conducted in a traditional manner.
The new office will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 32.74 crore
on Puthu Street in ward 160 of Alandur zone. The 8,798 sq. m.
office building will include a basement, a ground floor, and four
floors above. The project is aimed at providing improved civic
infrastructure and better public services for residents.
On the invitation of zonal chairman, Mr. N. Chandran, office-
bearers of various residents’ welfare associations, members of
the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations, and the
general public attended the function in large numbers.
