A grand kolam competition was organised in ward 167 of
Nanganallur to mark the birthday of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The event was conducted on behalf of ward 167 under Greater
Chennai Corporation (GCC).
The competition was held Sunday, February 15, 2026, at
around 3 pm, under the presidentship of ward 167 Councillor
Durga Devi Natarajan. The competition was conducted in a
very enthusiastic manner across the entire 167th ward.
Residents of Lakshmi Nagar Main Road, Nanganallur 42nd
Street, TNGO Colony, 100 Feet Road, Hindu Colony 3rd Main
Road, 2nd Main Road Hindu Colony, SBI Hindu Colony 2nd
Main Road, 50 Feet Road Eswaran Temple area,
Sarvamangala Nagar, 50 Feet Road, Voltas Colony Ayodhya
Street, Jain Stop Colony, Kannan Nagar and other surrounding
streets participated in the competition.
On that day, Nanganallur looked completely festive. Wherever
one turned, one could see colourful and creative kolams
decorating the streets. Houses and roads across the ward were
beautifully filled with traditional designs. The entire area was in
a celebratory mood.
Many residents, especially women and young participants, took
part in the competition and showcased their talent.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted February 17.
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. T.M.
Anbarasan, and former Member of Parliament R.S. Bharathi,
jointly distributed prize materials to around 1,200 participants.
Winners and participants happily received their prizes,
Several councillors and many residents were present during the
function.
