In Nanganallur, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Federation
of Senior Citizen Associations of Tamil Nadu (FOSCATAN)
conducted a Torch Light Holding Programme at Lakshmi
Nagar, to appeal for world peace and to call for an end to the
ongoing war in West Asia.
Senior citizens gathered with torchlights and expressed their
concern over the war, which has been affecting many countries
and disturbing the global economy.
The members said after Second World War, the present
generation is once again witnessing a war situation that is
causing great hardship and uncertainty around the world.
During the programme, the participants also paid homage to
the people who lost their lives in the war. They prayed for
peace and harmony among nations.
Mr. V. Rama Rao, president of FOSCATAN, said the event was
organised to spread awareness about the importance of peace
and to urge world leaders to work towards ending conflicts.
