Residents and daily commuters have started using the newly-
opened MRTS extension between Velachery MRTS station and
St. Thomas Mount MRTS station, and the response has been
very positive. Speaks team travelled on the route and spoke to
several passengers to gauge their experience.
One passenger working at IBM shared that he usually travels
from Adyar to Tambaram. He said earlier he depended on
buses, which often got delayed, but trains are much faster and
more reliable. Previously, he had to take a bus from Guindy to
Adyar, but now he can easily change trains at St. Thomas
Mount and travel directly to Madhya Kailash, near Adyar,
without hassle.
Another passenger travelling with his family said the long-
awaited project has finally become a reality. He pointed out that
even though the service started just a week ago, many people
were already using this route, showing how much the public
was waiting for it. He also requested the authorities to open the
Adambakkam station fully and arrange ticket counters soon,
which will greatly help residents of Adambakkam and
Nanganallur.
A student from SRM said he welcomed this extension as a
resident of Velachery. Earlier, he depended on autos and
buses, but now this train service between St. Thomas Mount
and Velachery has reduced his travel time and made his
journey more comfortable.
Overall, the MRTS extension has received a warm response
from the public. Residents of Nanganallur and Adambakkam
feel that once the Adambakkam station becomes fully
functional, the project will offer complete convenience to daily
commuters.
