Raising concern about pensioners

On the evening of Monday, March 16, 2026, a Women’s Day
celebration was held in a grand manner at the Youth Hostel,
Indira Nagar, Adyar. The event was organised by Probus Club
Madras South.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. Badri. The secretary,
Mr. Pranesh, delivered the welcome address. Assistant vice
president, Mrs. Vanaja Krishnamoorthy, spoke about the
importance of Women’s Day.
During the event, Ms. V. Suseela, founder of Avvai Illam, was
honoured for her dedicated service. Mrs. Sudha Seshadri and
Mrs. Parimala Krishnamoorthy were also honoured for their
contribution towards free education.
From Nanganallur, Mr. V. Rama Rao, president of the
Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of Tamil Nadu
(FOSCATAN), was honoured on the occasion. In his speech,
he explained the recent challenges faced by Central and state
pensioners.
He highlighted the difficulties faced by senior citizens and
pointed out that railway concessions for senior citizens have
been cancelled. He also expressed concern that even this
small benefit has not yet been restored.

Mr. R.T. Namasivayam, former vice president of FOSCATAN,
shared details about the central council meeting held in
Bhubaneswar.
Mr. Ramaraj, secretary of Probus Club, delivered a felicitation
address and invited everyone to attend the special Women’s
Day meeting to be held on March 28, 2026.
