Neighborhood Speaks

Nanganallur is mourning the sad demise of Sri Ramanathan (93), passed away on April 8th 2026. He was a respected and humble personality who dedicated his life to music. He was a guiding force behind the Nanganallur Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam and had been leading and nurturing it for the past four decades. His passing has left a deep void among residents and music lovers.

Sri Ramanathan was not just a music lover, but a true torchbearer of musical tradition. Through his efforts, the Thyagaraja Samajam grew into a well-known platform that promoted classical music and encouraged many young talents. His passion and commitment helped keep the rich musical heritage alive in the locality.

He was also known for his simple nature, kind heart and dedication to the community. He never sought recognition, but his work spoke for him. Many residents remember him as a gentle and inspiring person who always supported cultural activities.

In a strange coincidence, his close associate Senthagudi Sri Jayaraman, another music legend, attained the lotus feet of the Lord on April10, 2026. Sri Ramanathan and Sri Jayaraman had performed dual music concerts in the past. Sri Jayaraman was also associated with the Samajam during its early years, making this loss even more emotional for the music community.

This is truly a great loss to Nanganallur. As we bid farewell, the community pays heartfelt tribute to Sri Ramanathan and Sri Jayaraman, whose contributions to music and their lasting legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
