Residents and motorists received some relief this week as the
road connecting Nanganallur and Vanuvampet through 1st
Main Road was reopened for traffic. The reopening comes after
the completion of one phase of the ongoing sewage pipe
replacement work being carried out along the stretch.
The recently-completed section has been restored for vehicle
movement, allowing commuters to once again travel between
Nanganallur and Vanuvampet through the route that had been
closed for weeks.
A new trench has been marked and partially dug a little further
ahead on the same road, indicating that the next phase of
sewage pipe replacement work is expected to begin shortly.
According to the residents, the upcoming phase is likely to
extend further along the road towards the area opposite the
church. Once work begins, there is a possibility that the road
may again be partially or fully closed to facilitate digging and
pipe-laying activities.
Motorists are, therefore, advised to stay alert for future traffic
diversions and road closure announcements.
The residents have welcomed the progress made so far and
hope that the remaining work will be completed quickly to
minimise inconvenience while improving the locality’s sewage
infrastructure for the long term.
