Nanganallur witnessed a spiritually uplifting and memorable
event Wednesday, June 10, 2026, when Sri Sankara
Vijayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamigal inaugurated
the newly-constructed ‘Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal
Building’ with a special geriatric ward at Hindu Mission Health
Services, Hindu Colony, Nanganallur.
The event began with the arrival of Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi
Swamigal around 10.20 am. He was warmly received by the
management, devotees and residents. Swamigal inaugurated
the new building by unveiling the stone and lighting the
traditional kuthuvilakku.
He then proceeded to the first floor and personally visited the
various facilities and infrastructure of the building.
Swamigal then walked towards the Hindu Mission community
hall. The procession was made vibrant with traditional mangala
vaadyam, while students of Chellammal School Scouts
presented a ceremonial parade and welcome.
Devotees and residents lined the pathway to receive the
Swamigal and seek his blessings.
At the community hall, the Swamigal delivered an anugraha
bhashanam, blessing the gathering and speaking about the
importance of service to society, healthcare, education and
compassion towards the elderly. The audience listened with
devotion and reverence.
A large number of residents, devotees, well-wishers, and
members of the public participated in the event. The
atmosphere was filled with devotion as the gathering repeatedly
chanted ‘Hara Hara Sankara, Jaya Jaya Sankara’, creating a
spiritually charged environment.
Hindu Mission Health Services has also announced plans to
shortly open an 8-bedded geriatric ward in the new building. In
keeping with its founding principle, ‘Aarogyam at Affordable
Cost’, the facility will provide dedicated medical care for senior
citizens and super-senior citizens. The ward will offer in-patient
admission facilities and the services of a specialised geriatric
doctor. The management stated that treatment charges will be
kept affordable, ensuring quality healthcare for elderly patients.
The new building is expected to further strengthen the
healthcare services offered by Hindu Mission Health Services
and support its continued mission of providing affordable and
compassionate medical care to the community.
