Nanganallur Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samajam will present
its 446th monthly Panchami programme on Saturday, July 4,
2026, at 6.15 pm at Ranjani Hall, 15th Street, Nanganallur. The
highlight of the evening will be the musical Tamil drama
‘Sangeetha Mummoorthigal’, presented by the United Visuals
theatre group.
The production has been conceptualised by writer-journalist-
critic V. Srinivasan (VSV / Veesvee) and dramatised by
television-fame “TV” Varadharajen. The dialogues have been
written jointly by C.V. Chandramohan and Varadharajen, while
the music direction has been provided by renowned Carnatic
vocalist Sangita Kalanidhi Bombay Jayashri Ramnath. The
technical aspects of the production are also led by
Varadharajen.
‘Sangeetha Mummoorthigal’ is a musical drama built around
the timeless compositions of the Carnatic Trinity — Saint
Thyagaraja, Muthuswai Dikshitar and Syama Sastri. Unlike
conventional biographical plays, the drama explores the inner
world of these great composers, their relationships,
philosophies, struggles and artistic journeys. The production
combines devotion, history, classical music and theatre to
create a unique stage experience for both music-lovers and
general audiences.
More than 50 carefully selected Carnatic kritis have been
recorded by leading classical musicians for the production. The
recorded music is synchronised and played during the live
performance, creating a seamless and emotionally engaging
experience. The drama aims to bring the spirit behind the
compositions to life and help audiences connect deeply with the
rich heritage of Carnatic music.
The organisers have invited music lovers, theatre enthusiasts
and residents of Chennai to attend this special programme.
With its strong team of Veesvee, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath
and Varadharajen, ‘Sangeetha Mummoorthigal’ promises to be
a memorable evening celebrating the lives, music and legacy of
the great Carnatic music masters.
