With the objective of promoting better health among senior
citizens, a special ‘Healthy Senior Citizens, Healthy Nation’
initiative was launched at BM Hospital Sunday, July 5, 2026.
The weekly health check-up programme will be held every
Sunday from 8 am to 10 am.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr V. Rama Rao,
president, Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations of Tamil
Nadu (FOSCATN), who attended the function as the guest of
honour.
Dr. Tamizhselvan, dean, SRMCH and director of district
community services (health), was the chief guest.
The initiative is jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Chennai
Beehives and BM Hospital to provide affordable preventive
healthcare services for senior citizens.
As part of the programme, senior citizens can undergo a
comprehensive health check-up for a registration fee of just Rs.
100.
The package includes CBC, fasting blood sugar, urea,
creatinine, chest X-ray, ECG, and consultation with senior
doctors, making quality healthcare accessible at a nominal
cost.
Speaking at the event, the organisers emphasised the
importance of regular health screening for elderly people to
detect illnesses at an early stage and encourage healthy
ageing. They appealed to senior citizens to make use of this
weekly service and undergo periodic health check-ups.
The initiative received appreciation from the participants, who
welcomed the affordable and dedicated healthcare service
designed especially for senior citizens.
