A memorable marathon

The 3rd edition of the Chennai Connects 1K, 5K & 10K Run
2026 was held Sunday, August 2, at Nehru Government Boys
Higher Secondary School, Nanganallur, with more than 1,500
people taking part.
The marathon, organised by Chennai Connects, started from
the school campus and concluded at the same venue. The
event was conducted with the theme ‘#SayNoToNegativity’,
spreading a positive message through fitness and community
participation.
The event featured 1K Fun Run, 5K Run and 10K Run
categories for men and women and was open to participants of
all age groups. More than 100 participants had travelled from
different states to take part in the run.
The DJ vehicle was one of the main attractions of the event. It
travelled along with the runners, with the DJ playing music and
interacting with participants along the route. This created an
energetic atmosphere and encouraged the runners to continue
with enthusiasm.
Several senior citizens also participated along with youngsters,
families and fitness enthusiasts. The early morning event had a
fresh and cheerful atmosphere throughout.

In each race category, the top three finishers were rewarded
with medals and cups for their performance. All participants
were also given finisher medals and certificates.
The marathon also saw good participation from students of
Nehru Government Boys Higher Secondary School. In the 5K
category, R. Surya of class 11-D completed the run in 28
minutes, while S. Govind of class 11-B finished in 29 minutes.
Both students received medals and certificates for their
achievement. The school appreciated and congratulated the
students for their performance.
Official T-shirts were provided to the participants, while
breakfast and refreshments were arranged at the venue.
Physiotherapy and first-aid support were also available. Event
photography and an instant photobooth helped participants
capture their memorable moments.
With people of different age groups and participants from
different parts of the country coming together, the 3rd edition of
the Chennai Connects Run successfully brought together
fitness, positivity, music and community spirit, making it an
energetic and memorable morning in Nanganallur.
