Young dancer takes Nanganallur to great heights

Adhithi, a talented Bharatanatyam dancer from Nanganallur, has brought pride to the neighbourhood by winning the annual Bharatanatyam competition 2025 organised by the Tamil Isai Sangam, Tamil Isai Kalloori, and Raja Annamalai Mandram. The competition, which featured only Tamil compositions, was held Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Tamil Isai Sangam.
Participants were required to present one complete Margam, including Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Varnam, Padam, Keerthanam, and Thillana.
In this prestigious competition, only one winner was selected, and Adhithi emerged as the sole prize winner. She received the winner certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 2,500 from Justice Anand Venkatesh at the Tamil Isai Sangam, Raja Annamalai Mandram, in the presence of legendary Padma Shri Chitra Vishweshwaran and Kundanthai Mr. Lakshmanan, and he president and trustees of the Tamil Isai Sangam.
Adhithi shared that she has been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of five at Tandanallur Natyalaya. She also said her school, Modern School, has always supported her by giving permission to attend dance programmes and encouraging her in every possible way. Apart from dance, Adhithi is also learning Carnatic music. She dreams of performing dance on stages around the world in the future.
This competition provided an excellent platform for Bharatanatyam dancers to showcase their talent through pure Tamil compositions. Adhithi’s achievement stands as a proud moment for Nanganallur and highlights the richness of Tamil classical arts.
