Residents of Nanganallur can now enjoy authentic traditionalsweets and snacks from different parts of south India under oneroof with the opening of the first flagship outlet of Great IndianSweets in the locality by its proprietor, Mr. Sarath Ravikumar.Established in 2022 as an online-first brand, Great IndianSweets has been delivering traditional sweets and savouriesacross India and to customers overseas. Encouraged by theresponse from customers, the brand has now entered retailwith its first store in Nanganallur. More outlets are planned inVelachery, Mylapore and T. Nagar.The store brings together authentic regional delicacies sourceddirectly from traditional artisans in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradeshand Kerala. Customers can choose from popular specialitiessuch as Tirunelveli halwa, Srivilliputhur palkova, Karaikudiadhirasam, Kumbakonam ghee soan papdi, Atreyapurampootharekulu, Tuticorin macaroon, Kerala plum cake, Kakinadakaja and Madugula halwa.The savoury section offers favourites including Manapparaimurukku, Sattur kara sev, milagu sev, ribbon pakoda, kaimurukku, Andhra murukku and various seedai varieties. Anexclusive range of no onion and no garlic snacks is alsoavailable.A special attraction at the outlet is the hot halwa counter, wherevisitors can enjoy freshly prepared Tirunelveli halwa, Maduraiwheat halwa, Madurai ghee paal halwa and elaneer halwa. Thestore also features a filter coffee kiosk serving Kumbakonamdegree coffee and Nilgiris tea, along with beverages such asrose milk, badam milk and cold coffee.The outlet offers eco-friendly celebration baskets for festivals,weddings, birthdays, corporate gifting and other special occasions. According to the management, the products are
prepared without palm oil, added preservatives or artificial
flavours, while select sweets are made with pure ghee and
traditional groundnut oil is used for savouries wherever
applicable. Customers can also taste selected products before
making their purchase.
