Celestial wedding of Sri Rukmini to be celebrated

The celestial wedding of Sri Rukmini Devi with Sri Krishna (Sri Pandurangan) will be conducted in a grand and traditional manner on January 23, 2026, at Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Sri Pandurangan Sri Saradhambal Temple, Shanthi Nagar, Adambakkam.

As a prelude to the wedding, Maha Ganapathi homam will be performed on January 22, at 7 am, followed by prasadam distribution.

In the evening, at 7 pm, mappillai azhaippu with seervarisai will take place. This will be followed by Divyanama sankeerthanam by Sri Krishnakumar Bhagavathar and troupe, and later there will be prasadam distribution and dolothsavam.

On the day of the celestial wedding, January 23, a special abishekam for Sri Rukmini sametha Sri Pandurangan will be performed at 6.30 am. The celestial wedding ceremony will begin at 8.30 am and continue till 11 am.

The rituals will be conducted in a traditional Vedic manner, including exchange of garlands, yajamana sankalpam, Vinayaka poojai, punyagavahanam, pratishtai, agni aradhanam, raksha bandhanam, yagnopavetha dharanam, kanyadanam, mangalyadharanam, poriyidal, poornahoothi, seerpaadal, neivedyam and mahadeeparadhanai, followed by a grand kalyana feast.

In the evening at 5.30 pm, the processional deities of Sri Rukmini sametha Sri Pandurangan will be taken in a street procession around the temple, accompanied by kolattam and nama sankeerthanam by Saradha Mahila Bhajan Mandali.

From 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm, nama sankeerthanam will be rendered by Sri Krishnakumar Bhagavathar and troupe. The celebrations will conclude with a special dolothsavam at 9 pm.

Devotees and residents are invited to take part in the divine celebrations and seek the blessings of Sri Rukmini and Sri Pandurangan.
