Making elders walk for their own welfare

| S VENKATESHWARAN |

Diha Clinic conducted its second edition of ‘Nadanga Nallur –
Senior Citizens Walk’ Sunday, February 22, early morning at
Nanganallur, near Independence Day Park.
The event was part of its ongoing ‘Stay Healthy, Stay Happy’
initiative.
More than 300 senior citizens took part in the walk with great
enthusiasm.
The walk was organised in association with the Senior Citizen
Forum of Nanganallur and supported by the Federation of
Nanganallur Welfare Associations.
The main aim of the event was to create awareness about the
importance of regular physical activity, especially walking, for
the health and wellness of senior citizens.
Mr. Srinivasagopalan Chary, trustee of Diha Trust, flagged off
the walk from the Diha Clinic premises in Nanganallur. The
participants walked through a few streets in the locality and the
event concluded at the skating rink on 100 Feet Road,
Nanganallur.
All registered participants were given T-shirts and certificates in
recognition of their participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasagopalan Chary said
Diha Clinic was actively involved in community service by
offering free medical check-ups and health awareness talks
and videos by their doctors.
He added that the clinic was committed to providing quality
healthcare services at a reasonable cost and that the walk was
another way of showing their dedication to the people of
Nanganallur and the nearby areas.
On the occasion, Mr. Sampath (president – Senior Citizen
Forum), Mr. Chandra Bose (president – Federation of

Nanganallur Welfare Associations), Mr. N. Chandran (zone 12
chairman), Mrs. Durga Devi Natrajan (ward 167 Councillor), Mr.
J. Natarajan (ward 167 Secretary), Mr. Ravindran (FNWA), and
Kumaravelu (FNWA) spoke about the importance of senior
citizens maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Through initiatives like ‘Nadanga Nallur’, Diha Clinic continues
to promote good health in the local community and encourages
senior citizens to follow an active lifestyle for their long-term
well-being.
