The blood donation camp organised by the Rotary Club of
Nanganallur in association with VHS Blood Centre, Taramani,
was conducted successfully Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the
Rotary Office, 43rd Street, Nanganallur.
The camp received encouraging response from the public of
Nanganallur and the nearby areas. A total of 41 donors
generously came forward and donated blood to support
children affected by thalassemia, and other patients in need.
The organisers observed that around 50 per cent of the willing
donors were rejected due to low haemoglobin levels, mostly
among women, and high blood pressure among men. This
highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups and
creating more awareness about maintaining good health in the
community, they said.
The camp was carried out smoothly with the dedicated support
of Rotary members, volunteers and the medical team from VHS
Blood Centre.
Buttermilk was distributed to donors and visitors during the
camp to help them stay refreshed in the summer heat.
As a token of appreciation, certificates were presented to all the
blood donors for their selfless contribution towards this noble
cause.
The organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors
and staff of VHS Blood Centre for their excellent support,
professionalism and compassionate care in handling the
donors throughout the camp.
Club president, Mr. Anand Kumar A, and secretary, Mr. Yogesh
B. Dave, thanked all the donors, volunteers and supporters who
helped make the event a grand success.
The organisers also appealed to the public to continue
spreading awareness about blood donation and healthy living,
so that together everyone can make a positive difference in
society.
