The National Pulse Polio Immunisation camps are being
conducted today, Sunday, June 28, 2026, across the country
by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW),
Government of India, in coordination with the Tamil Nadu
Health Department and Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) for
local implementation.
As part of this nationwide initiative, the Rotary Club of
Nanganallur has joined hands with the medical officers and
healthcare teams of Nanganallur and Pazhavanthangal urban
primary health centres (UPHCs) to support the successful
conduct of the Pulse Polio Immunisation drive in these two
areas.
The campaign aims to ensure that every eligible child receives
life-saving polio drops, and continues India’s mission of keeping
the country polio-free. Parents are requested to bring their
children to the nearest vaccination booth and make use of this
free service.
To support the campaign, the Rotary Club of Nanganallur has
arranged assistance for 32 vaccination booths with the help of
nearly 180 volunteers. The club has also sponsored breakfast
and lunch for the volunteers, doctors, nurses and supporting
staff serving throughout the day.
Rotary has been at the forefront of the global fight against polio
through its PolioPlus Programme since 1985. With the
collective efforts of Rotary and its global partners, polio cases
worldwide have been reduced by more than 99.9%.
The club has appealed to all parents, members, families and
the public to actively participate in the campaign and help make
the immunisation drive a grand success. The campaign carries
the message: ‘Together, We Can End Polio – A few drops
today, a lifetime of protection tomorrow’.

leadership of Mr. Anand Kumar A, president, and Mr. Yogesh
