A grievance redressal meeting, organised by Greater Chennai
Corporation, was held Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Muthalvar
Kalyana Mandapam, Alandur New Street.
Alandur MLA M. Harish attended the meeting along with
officials from various government departments. Residents from
different parts of the constituency visited the venue and
submitted petitions on civic issues and public welfare.
Members of the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare
Associations actively participated in the meeting and submitted
a memorandum to the MLA seeking early action on several
important civic issues affecting Nanganallur and nearby areas.
Representatives from various residents welfare associations
also attended the meeting and highlighted local development
needs and public concerns.
A separate memorandum, addressed to Chief Minister Vijay, a
copy of which was submitted to MLA Harish, requested the
formation of an Elders Commission, a separate department,
and a dedicated budget for senior citizens in Tamil Nadu.
The memorandum stated that such an initiative would benefit
nearly 1.04 crore senior citizens in the state and pointed out
that a similar system has already been introduced by the Kerala
government.

Officials from different departments received the petitions from
the residents and assured them that the grievances would be
examined and suitable action would be taken.
The meeting served as a useful platform for the public to
interact directly with elected representatives and government
officials and seek timely solutions to civic issues.
Federation representatives, Mr. V. Rama Rao, Mr. G.
Sethumadhavan, Mr. G. Shankar, and Mr. T. N. Srinivasan,
were present during the meeting and submitted the
memorandums.
