The Naadhabrahmam United Gyan Academi celebrated
International Music and Yoga Day and marked the beginning of
its silver jubilee year with a grand function Sunday, June 21,
2026, at Sri Krishna Premi Maharaj Auditorium, Chellammal
Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School, Hindu Colony,
Nanganallur.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the
prestigious ‘Naadha Vinodhini’ title to renowned Carnatic
musician, teacher, researcher and artiste, Ms. S. Kanmony.
The honour was conferred by Sri R. Seshasayee, chairman of
Asian Paints, in recognition of her outstanding achievements
and inspiring journey.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Seshasayee praised Ms.
Kanmony for overcoming more than 90% physical disability
from birth and achieving remarkable success in music and the
arts. He appreciated her dedication, noting that she has
performed in more than 500 concerts and has received a
National Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement.
He also congratulated Naadhabrahmam for successfully
completing 25 years of service to music and culture.
Receiving the award, Ms. Kanmony expressed her heartfelt
gratitude to the organisers, her parents, family members and
well-wishers. She said the honour was not only a recognition of
her achievements but also a responsibility to continue serving
the field of music and inspire others.
Sri. T.R. Chandrasekaran, secretary of Chellammal Education
Society, felicitated the awardee. Sri. N. Subramanian, founder
of Naadhabrahmam, spoke about the organisation’s journey
and its commitment to promoting Indian classical music over
the past 25 years.
The celebrations concluded with Guru Smaranam and a soulful
Carnatic music performance by Naadha Sevaka Udayalur Sri
Kalyanarama Bhagavathar and his troupe, making the silver
jubilee event a memorable occasion for music-lovers.
