An awareness meeting on cyber crime and online frauds was
organised by the Federation of South Chennai Associations
(FOSCATN) at Voltas Colony Park last week.
Even though it started raining during the programme, a large
number of residents attended the meeting, showing their
interest in learning about cyber safety.
The programme began with introductory remarks by joint
secretary, Mr. Inbasekaran, and vice-president, Mr.
Mahendranath, who explained the purpose of the awareness
meeting. FOSCATN president, Mr. V. Rama Rao, was present.
The chief speaker, inspector, Mrs. Usha Rani, from the Central
Cyber Crime Branch, delivered an informative session on
different types of cyber crimes and online frauds.
She explained how fraudsters target people, especially senior
citizens, and shared several real-life examples. She also gave
useful tips on how to stay safe and avoid becoming victims of
cyber scams.
The session lasted for nearly two hours, and the audience
listened with great interest. Many participants appreciated the
practical information and guidance shared during the
programme.
The event was attended by the federation’s advisors, office-
bearers, and members from various residents associations,
making it a meaningful and successful awareness programme.
The organisers thanked everyone who attended despite the
intermittent rain and appreciated the strong support shown by
the residents for the federation’s community initiatives.
