The Nanganallur Central Welfare Association celebrated the
80th Indian Independence Day with patriotic spirit and
enthusiasm Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the 15th Street
corner, opposite Ranjani Hall, Nanganallur.
The programme began with a prayer song, followed by the
welcome address. Mr. V. Balachandran, DGP (retd), Tamil
Nadu Police, was the chief guest and hoisted the national flag.
The national anthem was sung by the participants, followed by
patriotic songs.
Retd. Major V.V. Narayanan, a Kargil War veteran, attended
the programme as the special guest and addressed the
gathering. His participation added special significance to the
celebrations.
As part of the programme, the association also honoured civic
workers from the area for their valuable services to the
community. The function concluded with a vote of thanks,
followed by breakfast for the participants.
Residents and members of the association took part in the
celebration and paid tribute to the freedom fighters and those
who have served the nation.
