Renovation work at the Thillaiganga Nagar subway is
progressing steadily. The concrete flooring on one side of the
subway is almost complete, with only a few portions near the
end of the subway towards Velachery-end still remaining to be
done. Once this section is completed, the next side of the
subway is expected to be taken up for renovation.
This time, the road is being strengthened with a proper iron
reinforcement structure. A number of iron rods have been fixed
before the concrete is laid over them. The new concrete road is
also being laid with greater thickness and height, with the aim
of preventing future damage and addressing the long-standing
water leakage issue.
As mentioned earlier, the road inside the subway often
remained wet due to water seepage, causing difficulties for
commuters. Residents and regular users are, therefore, hopeful
that the new construction will provide a lasting solution to the
damaged road and water leakage problem.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement continues through the middle
portion of the subway. Since the available road space is
currently limited, traffic may move slowly during peak hours.
Commuters are expecting the present work to be completed
soon so that the next side can also be taken up and the entire
subway can be restored for smooth traffic movement.
