Macmillan-Gowri Colony Association celebrated the 80th Indian
Independence Day Saturday, August 15, 2026, with patriotic
spirit and enthusiasm.
Mrs. Sharmila Devi Dhivakar, Councillor of ward 185, hoisted
the national flag. Colony super senior resident, Mr. Srinivasan,
was honoured with a shawl on the occasion.
Mr. G. Periannan, recipient of the Thiruvalluvar Award and a
resident of the colony, delivered a special address.
The arrangements for the celebration were made by Mr. D.
Ramakrishnan, president, and Mr. R. Balachandar, secretary of
the association.
A large number of residents attended the function and took part
in the celebrations. Sweets were distributed to the residents at
the end of the programme.
