The Nanganallur Mahalir Mandram (Nanganallur Ladies Association – NLA) celebrated the 143rd birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyar in a joyful and meaningful manner along with schoolchildren at P.M.S. Matriculation School, Nanganallur.

As part of the celebrations, speech, essay and poetry competitions were conducted for the students. Prizes were given to the winners and gifts were also distributed to all the students who took part in the competitions.

Children dressed up as Bharathiyar and performed songs and dances, which added special charm to the event.

The programme was well organised by NLA members, Dr. Subha Ravishankar, Mrs. Kanchana Raman and Mrs. Bhanumathi Raghavan.

Senior members, Mrs. Saroj Ramani, Mrs. Dhanalakshmi Narasimman, Mrs. Prema Sundararajan and other members, including Mrs. Lavanya Ramesh, Mrs. Chamundeeswari, Mrs. Parimala, Mrs. Jayanthi Sathish and Mrs. Sumathi participated and distributed prizes to the children.

School principal, Mrs. Latha, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the students and organisers. The Nanganallur Ladies Association expressed its heartfelt thanks to the Tamil teacher, other teachers, and the school management for motivating the children and encouraging them to actively take part in the competitions.
