The ongoing sewage pipe replacement work on 1st Main Road
in Nanganallur, being carried out in phases, has now
progressed further towards the Vanuvampet side. After
successfully completing the stretch from 1st Main Road up to
NSK Road leading to Medavakkam Main Road, the work has
now moved to the final section of the road.
At present, the replacement work is being carried out at the end
of the street, opposite the Vanuvampet church. Workers are
continuing excavation and pipe-laying activities as part of the
next phase of the major sewage infrastructure improvement
project.
Due to the ongoing work, a portion of the road has been
partially blocked, and traffic movement is being regulated
through the remaining available space. Motorists travelling
between Nanganallur and Vanuvampet are advised to drive
cautiously and expect minor delays during peak hours.
The recent rainfall has further added to the difficulties faced by
commuters. Waterlogging and slushy conditions around the
excavation site have made it challenging for two-wheelers,
pedestrians, and motorists to pass through the area safely.
Residents have requested commuters to be extra cautious
while using the stretch, especially during and after rain.
Despite the temporary inconvenience, residents said the work
has been progressing steadily from one stretch to another over
the past few weeks.
Many have expressed hope that the remaining work near the
Vanuvampet church will be completed soon, allowing normal
traffic movement to resume, while providing a stronger and
more reliable sewage network for the locality.
