Sewage pipe replacement work is being carried out in several
parts of Nanganallur as part of improving the underground
drainage system. The work is expected to benefit residents by
providing a better sewage network and reducing drainage-
related problems in the area.
However, the road leading to Vanuvampet from Nanganallur
1st Main Road, particularly the NSK Road stretch, has been
causing difficulties to commuters after the sewage pipe
replacement work. Though the pipe work has been completed,
the road has not yet been properly restored.
The affected stretch has been left with loose concrete pieces,
dry stones and mud that have not been properly levelled.
During rainy days, the entire stretch becomes extremely
slippery, making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to pass
through safely. Two-wheeler riders are facing particular
difficulty, as even a small loss of balance can lead to a fall.
Even on dry days, commuters are finding it difficult to travel on
the stretch. The loose stones and uneven mud cause vehicles
to move unsteadily, with the wheels sometimes slipping or
jumping over the rough surface. Walkers are also facing
inconvenience while crossing the area.
Residents understand that sewage pipe replacement is
important work for the long-term betterment of the locality. At

the same time, they have requested the authorities to complete
the road restoration at the earliest and lay a proper road
surface.
