Fun way to begin Tamil new year

Tamil New Year was celebrated in a grand and joyful manner at
AGS Colony by the AGS Colony Residents Welfare Association
Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The function began at 6 pm with Tamil Thai Vazhthu and
association president, Mr. T. Swaminathan, welcomed the
gathering and addressed the residents.
Secretary, Mr. S. Kothandaraman, coordinated and compered
the cultural programmes.
Residents of AGS Colony and the neighbouring areas of
Nanganallur actively participated in the celebrations. Children
presented dance, songs and comedy performances, while
adults also joined with singing and other entertaining acts,
making the evening lively and enjoyable.
Fun activities like quiz and riddles competitions were also
conducted. Prizes were distributed to the participants, and a
lucky dip was held in which three winners received special gifts.
Mr. Kothandaraman kept the audience engaged with his
humorous speeches and jokes, bringing laughter among the
entire gathering.
Dignitaries and members from various associations also
attended the event, including Mr. Chandrabose, president, and
Mr. Kumaravelu, general secretary from the Federation of

Nanganallur Welfare Associations, Mr. Ravindran from Lakshmi
Nagar Civic Welfare Association, and Mrs. Sundari Kumaravelu
from Swastik Madhar Sangam, Voltas Colony.
The celebration came to a pleasant close around 8 pm with the
vote of thanks proposed by the secretary, making it a
memorable and cheerful Tamil New Year event for all.
