11 patients get free cataract surgery

An eye-screening and cataract surgery camp was conducted
Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Sri Ayyappan Temple hall,
Madipakkam.
The camp was organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mylapore,
in association with Aravind Eye Hospital, Chennai, with support
from volunteers of Madipakkam Ayyappan Temple.
A total of 148 members were selected for the camp, of which
139 attended and benefitted from the free eye check-up
services.
Among them, 11 patients were identified for cataract surgery.
They were taken to Aravind Eye Hospital on the same day, and
after successful surgeries, they were safely dropped back at
their residences by Tuesday.
In addition, 28 members were examined at the camp and
provided spectacles on the same day. Of these, five patients
were prescribed special lenses, which were arranged and
delivered to them by Wednesday.
The camp saw good participation from residents of
Madipakkam and nearby areas. With proper arrangements,
medical support, and volunteer assistance, the entire camp,
including cataract treatment and follow-up services, was
completed smoothly and successfully.
On the occasion, Sri Chandrasekar Maharaj was honoured with
a shawl along with Veda gosham and Ayyappa prasadam at
Madipakkam Ayyappan Temple, says Mr. Kailasam, an old
student of Ramakrishna Mission and a volunteer.
