Paal kudam festival marks Chithra Pournami at temple

The 33rd year Chithra Pournami paal kudam festival was
celebrated at Thillaiganga Nagar Sri Devi Karumari Amman
Temple Friday, May 1.
A large number of devotees from the nearby areas and distant
places took part in the special celebrations with great faith and
devotion.
The festival began early in the morning with Ganapathi homam.
Following this, a grand procession of 208 paal kudams was
carried from Ramnagar Sri Ayyappan Temple to the Karumari
Amman Temple. Devotees eagerly reserved spots to carry the
sacred paal kudam, which symbolised their offering for the
divine abishekam.
After the procession, special paal abishekam was performed for
Amman with great devotion. The deity was beautifully
decorated with pushpa alankaram, and a special deeparathanai
was conducted in the presence of a large gathering of
devotees.
Around noon, prasadam was distributed to all the devotees,
bringing happiness and spiritual joy to everyone present.
Throughout the day, the temple was filled with prayers,
devotional activities, and colorful decorations for the Goddess.

Devotees said these long-followed customs and traditions
continue to remain an important part of the temple’s religious
and cultural heritage.
The celebrations concluded with a special 108 thiruvilakku puja
by 8 pm. Many women and devotees lit lamps and performed
kunguma archanai, filling the temple atmosphere with devotion,
brightness and positivity, symbolising prosperity, happiness and
divine blessings.
