Litterateur Sivasankari felicitated for becoming Padma Shriawardee

Uratha Chinthanai Writers’ Association organised a grand
felicitation function to honour Padma Shri awardee and
renowned novelist, Mrs. Sivasankari, for her outstanding
contribution to Tamil literature and Indian writing. The event
was held at the P.S. Senior Secondary School Auditorium,
Mylapore, Friday, June 26, 2026.
The programme celebrated Mrs. Sivasankari’s lifelong service
to literature, social awareness and the Tamil language. The
grand function was attended by several people from the field of
literature, journalism, cinema, education and public life.
Among the guests who attended the function in person were
journalists Mr. Rangaraj Pandey, Mr. Tiruppur Krishnan,
veteran film director, Mr. S.P. Muthuraman. They shared their
thoughts on Mrs. Sivasankari’s inspiring literary journey and
praised her remarkable contribution to Tamil literature and
society.
Several well-known personalities also conveyed their wishes
through special video messages. These included actor
Sivakumar, businessman Nalli Kuppusamy Chetti and noted
speaker, Ms. Bharathi Baskar, who congratulated Mrs.
Sivasankari on receiving the Padma Shri award and

appreciated her lifelong dedication to literature and social
service.
Adding a proud Nanganallur connection to the celebration,
students of The Hindu Colony Chellammal Vidyalaya Senior
Secondary School, Nanganallur, were specially invited to
perform at the function.
The students rendered the irai vanakkam and a Bharathiar
song, creating a pleasant and devotional atmosphere. They
also warmly welcomed Mrs. Sivasankari and participated in
felicitating her during the function. Their performance was
highly appreciated by the dignitaries and the audience.
