The Chennai Metro Rail bridge work on Medavakkam Main
Road has reached an important stage, and the newly-built
curved section connecting Madipakkam and Medavakkam
Road towards the Adambakkam MRTS station side has
become an impressive sight.
The Metro bridge makes a beautiful curve towards
Adambakkam, and the design has attracted the attention of
many residents and commuters.
From the Vanuvampet side, the view is especially striking. The
Metro bridge passes above the MRTS railway bridge, creating
an appearance as if the Metro line is merging with the MRTS
track. The combination of the Metro bridge, the MRTS line, and
the busy road below gives the area a modern and attractive
look.
Most of the bridge between Adambakkam and Thillaiganga
Nagar has already been completed. However, a few sections
are still under construction. Some bridge spans are yet to be
placed on the remaining pillars, including those near the canal
and in the middle of the road close to the MRTS railway bridge.
Construction work is progressing steadily to complete these
remaining portions.
The recent resumption of MRTS train services between
Velachery and St. Thomas Mount has added to the importance

of this corridor. With the Metro bridge above, the MRTS line in
the middle, and vehicles moving below, the location now
showcases one of the city’s most impressive transport
infrastructure developments.
Residents are eagerly waiting for the completion of the Metro
bridge and the start of Metro train operations. They believe the
project will greatly improve traffic movement and provide better
connectivity between Madipakkam, Medavakkam,
Adambakkam, Nanganallur, Thillaiganga Nagar, Alandur and
the surrounding areas.
Once Metro services begin, the entire stretch is expected to
present an even more modern and developed appearance.
