Uriyadi draws as many devotees as Guruvayoorappan

The Krishna Jayanthi Utsavam was celebrated with devotion and
enthusiasm at the Nanganallur Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple from
August 29 to September 5.
As part of the celebrations, Saptha Narayaneeyam was conducted
every day by seven individual groups. The programme concluded on
the afternoon of September 4.
Various cultural programmes were also organised every evening
throughout the celebrations. On the night of Krishna Jayanthi, divya
nama sankeerthanam was conducted with the participation of
devotees.
On September 4, Krishna Jayanthi, Vishwaroopa darshan was held at
5 am. This was followed by kalabhishekam and nine sandhana
abishekams. In the evening, around 5.15 pm, kanakabhishekam was
performed.
A large number of devotees visited the temple during the day, with
the evening drawing particularly huge crowds. A long queue of
devotees extended through the temple premises and up to the end of
the street. Mangala isai was performed until midnight, while the
special vilakku maadam programme continued until 11.45 pm.
Mangala aarathi was performed at midnight.
Following the aarathi, Gokulashtami bakshanam was distributed to all
the devotees who attended the celebrations. The temple was closed
around 12.40 am.
The celebrations continued on September 5 with uriyadi held at
around 6 pm outside the temple premises. Sri Guruvayoorappan was
taken in a procession in a silver car, accompanied by Sri Paadham

Thangigal. The uriyadi witnessed the participation of many devotees
and the public, who gathered outside the temple to enjoy the
traditional celebration.
After the uriyadi, the procession of Sri Guruvayoorappan began and
continued into the night, marking the grand conclusion of the Krishna
Jayanthi Utsavam, said temple joint secretary, Sri Balaji.
