10-day Gokulashtami festival at Adambakkam temple

A grand 10-day Gokulashtami festival will be celebrated at Sri
Karpaga Vinayagar Sri Pandurangan Sri Saradhambal Temple
Adambakkam, from August 26 to September 4, 2026. Lord
Krishna is also worshipped as Sri Pandurangan, and the annual
festival attracts devotees from Adambakkam and the
surrounding areas.
During all 10 days, special abhishekam, alankaram and maha
deeparadhanai will be performed at 7 am. In the evening, the
presiding deities will be decorated with vennai kappu, while the
processional deities will be presented in different alankarams
each day.
The deities will be placed on oonjal seva for devotees to have
darshan and offer prayers.
As part of the cultural programmes, Smt. Radhika Raja and her
troupe will present nama sankeerthanam August 26 from 6.30
pm to 8.30 pm. On August 27, Sri Deepak will present a
musical discourse on ‘Sant Eknath Charithram’ during the same
time.
From August 28 to September 3, Dr. B. Sundarkumar will
deliver a discourse on ‘Sri Krishna Charitham’ from 6.30 pm to
8.30 pm.

The utsava murti alankarams during the festival are: August 26:
Vennaithazhi Kannan; August 27: Jadai Kannan; August 28:
Yoga Narayana Krishnan; August 29: Rukmini Amudhu
Padaithal; August 30: Sammohana Krishnan; August 31: Yeni
Kannan; September 1: Durbar Kannan; September 2:
Dwarakadeesan; September 3: Murali Kannan; September 4:
Venugopalan; followed by veedhi ula.
On the concluding day, September 4, sathakalasa puja will be
performed for the presiding deity, Sri Pandurangan, at 7 am,
followed by abhishekam alankaram and maha deeparadhanai.
The highlight of the concluding day will be the evening veedhi
ula. Sri Pandurangan, in the form of Sri Venugopalan, will be
beautifully decorated and taken in procession through the
streets of Shanthi Nagar, Bharath Nagar, Surendra Nagar and
Parthasarathy Nagar in Adambakkam.
Before the procession, a kolattam performance by a women’s
group will be held. The procession will be accompanied by
nadaswaram and thavil, Vedha ghosham and bhajans by
Adambakkam Saradha Mahila Mandali.
